What to know before you write in
When will the ZAO system be available to order?
The ZAO system (e-paper thermostat + Zigbee gateway + 8-zone control center) is in pre-launch. Deliveries start in Q3-Q4 2026. Join the waitlist for early adopter pricing and priority delivery.
What is the estimated price for the complete system?
For a 3-room apartment (8 zones), the estimated cost of the complete ZAO ecosystem is €500-650: 3-4 thermostats (€150-200), 1 gateway (€70), 1 8-zone control center (€150), actuators (€120-200). Final pricing will be confirmed at launch.
Is installation by an electrician required?
Partially. Thermostats are DIY-mounted (wall screws, Zigbee pairing). The control center requires installation by a certified electrician (230V work at the floor manifold + 16A pump connection).
Does it work with Home Assistant?
Yes, 100% natively. The ZAO system uses standard Zigbee and integrates directly through Zigbee2MQTT (no cloud account or subscription). Everything runs locally on your network.
How long does the thermostat battery last?
ZAO thermostats with a 4.2" e-paper display consume very little power. The built-in rechargeable battery lasts 2-3 years (5-10μA standby). Charges via USB-C every 2-3 years.
What warranty do ZAO products offer?
2-year hardware warranty per EU legislation. Free OTA firmware updates. Spare parts available for at least 5 years from launch.
Do you ship across the EU or only Romania?
We ship across the entire European Union. Shipping costs: Romania €10-15, EU €20-35. CE-certified products, European electrical standards (230V 50Hz).
